An emphasis needs to be placed on the importance of collaboration with many various officials and agencies at all levels – community, local, county, regional, state, and national – as this is the direction the SDFSC Statewide Initiative is leading within the State of Texas.  Through our collaboration with such entities, we have recently ratified uniform school safety standards, and will soon be developing uniform school safety audit and audit report procedures, and school safety best practices throughout the State of Texas.  Each of these phases of the School Emergency Management Cycle cannot stand alone.  They are each only as effective as the other phases of the cycle.  And any incident, no matter how large or small, will have aspects of each phase of the Emergency Management Cycle imbedded within.  Therefore, it is critical that everyone involved in the educational field apply each of these phases in our efforts to create truly Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities!
